It is important for us to
remember those who were part of our group but are no longer with
us. May they be in a lovely place filled with good books to read.
We remember them with love.
Andrea Saltzman died peacefully in her home early Tuesday morning, August 13, 2019, just over four years after her diagnosis with stage IV lung cancer. She was an accomplished lawyer, life-long social activist, and enthusiastic collector of all things giraffe. Andrea was one of the very early members of the East Bay Mystery Readers' Group having joined in July 1995. As well as appreciating her insight on the books we'd read, we loved watching her embroider one of her beloved giraffes into various items of clothing, and to hear updates about Ruth, the daughter of whom she was so very proud. Rest in Peace, dear Andrea. We shall always remember you with love. |
Jane
Prentiss was one of our "remote" members who became a member
through her friendship with LJ. A marketing professional,
far more important than her career were her roles as wife
to Bob and mother to Megan. It was wonderful that she was
healthy and vibrant for Megan's wedding. Jane had a marvelous
sense of humor and, in addition to reading, loved to garden
and animals which led to volunteering as a dog-walker at
the Oakland ASPCA. |
It
is with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of
Jacky Melchior, a member of the East Bay Mystery Readers' Group
since 1997. A biochemist by profession, Jacky loved mysteries
and had three of her own published in Ellery Queen Magazine.
Even after she was physically unable to join us for the
meetings, Jacky would email LJ with her comments on books,
and thank LJ for keeping her on the email list. LJ showed
her, her Kindle and Jacky ordered her own. She was admired,
loved and we miss her. |
We hope this will be the page on our site which receives the fewest updates.
